Joao Felix’s first-half strike against Croatia secured a point for Portugal in another busy night of international action for the Blues.

Our Portuguese duo of Joao Felix and Renato Veiga were named in the starting XI for their final Nations League match, with the former breaking the deadlock after 30 minutes with a composed finish following a long-range pass from PSG's Vitinha.

Despite heading into the break a goal up, Croatia responded in the second half as Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol levelled the match. Although it ended 1-1, the Blues pair - plus Pedro Neto who was one of several players allowed to leave the camp early due to squad rotation - had already confirmed safe passage to the final eight of the competition by securing top spot in Group A1 with a match to spare.

Meanwhile, Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez were named among the substitutes during Spain’s 3-2 win over Switzerland. Following a first-half that saw Pino open the scoring having converted Pedri’s saved penalty, Sanchez was brought into the fold during the interval making only his third appearance for his country between the sticks.

The game burst into life after the break as Switzerland’s Joel Monteiro and Andi Zeqiri scored while Byran Gil kept the European champions in contention, and with the game finely balanced at 2-2, Bryan Zaragoza converted from the spot to give Spain a last-gasp win.

Just like their geographic neighbours Portugal, Spain had already been confirmed victors of their group prior to kick-off and therefore will progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Serbia’s Djordje Petrovic helped his national side keep a clean sheet in a goalless 0-0 draw with Denmark. The shot-stopper, who is currently on loan at Strasbourg, made three saves as Serbia secured third place in Group A4.

Earlier on Monday, and having been named Player of the Match in his previous game for England’s Under-21s, Bashir Humphreys started their final match of the November international break during a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.

The centre-half, who is spending this season with Championship side Burnley, played every minute of the game as Dane Scarlett’s header was cancelled out by a late goal from the hosts.

Elsewhere, Landon Emenalo began England Under-17s’ narrow 2-1 defeat to Belgium in the second friendly of their double-header against the same side.

Belgium opened the scoring before the Young Lions equalised through Ryan McAidoo, but Emenalo’s side were unable to hold on for long as the hosts converted what would be the winner. The 16-year-old was eventually withdrawn for Brighton’s Freddie Simmonds with half an hour left to play.
