Catarina Macario struck after just 34 seconds for the US Women's National team in their friendly against Brazil, while Ashley Lawrence made a substitute appearance for Canada during their defeat to Argentina.

It was moments after the USA had kicked off in their friendly that Macario had made her mark.

Playing a neat one-two with Alyssa Thompson in midfield, the pair raced towards goal, and when Thompson ran into trouble with the Brazil defence, Macario's intelligent run paid off as she picked up the loose ball and slotted home.

The official time of the goal was recorded at 34 seconds, making her strike the seventh fastest in the history of the USWNT, and the striker's tenth for her country overall.

Macario has registered at least one goal contribution in seven of her last eight starts for her country, including three from four since she returned from injury.

The Chelsea forward played the first 58 minutes of the game before being replaced by Lindsey Heaps.

Meanwhile, Ashley Lawrence replaced Gabrielle Carle in the 64th minute of Canada's 1-0 friendly defeat to Argentina.

The Canadians dominated possession and fired 18 shots on goal to Argentina's six, but couldn't find a breakthrough on the night.

Lawrence had a shot blocked in stoppage time, and had earlier played in Julia Grosso for a chance, but the midfielder shot high and wide of the target.
