Our Swedish trio Zecira Musovic, Nathalie Bjorn, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd have taken a step closer to qualifying for the European Championships after beating Serbia 2-0 in the first leg of their second-round play-off.
Goalkeeper Musovic, defender Bjorn and winger Rytting Kaneryd all started in the victory in Serbia, with the latter making way for the final minutes of the match. Hanna Bennison and Rosa Kafaji were on the scoresheet, with former Blue Jonna Andersson assisting the second goal.
Tonight's win gives Sweden a two-goal advantage going into Tuesday's second leg in Stockholm where a victory on aggregate would secure their place at next summer's major tournament in Switzerland.
At U-23s level, Blues defender Maelys Mpome started and helped France to a 1-0 friendly win against the Netherlands, Julia Bartel's Spain was beaten 3-0 by Germany, while defender Brooke Aspin - who is on loan at Crystal Palace - left the pitch due to injury 21 minutes into England's 0-0 draw with Norway.
On Thursday afternoon, Blues goalkeeper Katie Cox and midfielder Lexi Potter - who is also currently on loan at Palace - both played 90 minutes as England U-19s got their European campaign off to a winning start, beating Turkey 2-1.
