Lauren James will not feature in England's UEFA Women's Nations League double-header against Belgium due to concussion, head coach Sarina Wiegman has confirmed.

The 22-year-old joined up with her international teammates at the start of the week after helping Chelsea record a 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Women's Super League.

James, who has been capped 18 times, was expected to play a prominent role for the Lionesses in their upcoming fixtures but has been forced to withdraw from the squad.

'Lauren James is not ready, she won't be ready for Tuesday also,' Wiegman explained at her pre-match press conference.

'It's nothing to worry about. She picked up a concussion and as you know we have to be very careful with the protocols, as we always do, and it's just too short for the two upcoming games.'
