Chelsea can confirm midfielder Jessie Fleming has completed a permanent transfer to Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League.
The Canadian international joined the Blues in July 2020 from UCLA Bruins – a football programme at the University of California, Los Angeles – in a move that saw her sign her first professional contract.
The 25-year-old has since gone on to score 12 goals in 111 appearances for the Blues, lift three Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup, and a Community Shield.
She was also part of the side that reached the 2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League final.
In 2020/21, her debut campaign, Fleming made 26 appearances for the Blues. She started the Continental League Cup final victory over Bristol City and came off the bench during our Community Shield success against Manchester City.
Fresh from Olympic success with Canada, Fleming returned for the 2021/22 season and opened her account for the club with a goal against Manchester United – the first of eight goals in all competitions – and accumulated 36 appearances in total.
Having signed a contract extension with Chelsea in November 2022, the midfielder added another 36 appearances to her tally during the 2022/23 campaign.
This season, Fleming reached a significant milestone when she made her 100th appearance for the Blues during a 1-1 draw away to Manchester City in the Women’s Super League last October.
Everyone at Chelsea would like to express their gratitude to Jessie for her service to the club. We wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.
