Chelsea FC Women star Ji So-Yun says it’s been a good environment at Cobham this week, despite Wednesday’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur being postponed.

The Blues were due to host Spurs in our game in hand midweek, a win could have seen us top the WSL table for the first time this season.

The postponement hasn’t put a downer on the squad’s morale though, as Ji says the team have reset their focus for Sunday’s trip to the King Power.

‘The Spurs game will be rescheduled so we don’t need to worry about it, we have another game this weekend, so we need to focus for Leicester. Reset and re-focus,’ Ji said.

Speaking at Cobham, Ji added: ‘Training has been good, we’ve been busy this month! Every game is a final, so we really need to focus for every game.’

The sun has been shining in Surrey this week and Ji adds how that has influenced the team.

‘It’s been lovely weather every day this week, so it’s been a good mood in training.’

The Blues recently recorded a triumph over the Foxes, beating Lydia Beford’s side 7-0 in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round at Kingsmeadow in February.

On the prospect of facing Leicester in the league this weekend, our No10 said: ‘We played against them recently and we were really strong, I think it’s going to be a good game on Sunday.

‘We can’t lose points anymore so we will really push hard, so yeah I think it’s going to be a good game.

‘I want to focus on our games step by step. If we got to the top of the league, it’s our spot and reward for the hard work we have put in. We have so many games coming up though, so we just need to continue to focus.’

The recent news from the Government permits the club to sell tickets to supporters again, meaning more fans can be at Kingsmeadow to cheer on the team when we host Reading next Sunday.

Ji excitedly said: ‘I’m extremely happy to have the fans back! They always encourage us and create a really good atmosphere to play in. I really look forward to seeing them next week at Kingsmeadow against Reading, I hope to see more fans back again.’

Today’s game against the Foxes kicks off at 3pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football.
