Joao Felix believes Chelsea are now playing with more authority even if we didn’t get the result he thought we merited against Everton.

The Blues had to settle for a point despite leading the Toffees twice, with the opening goal scored by the Portuguese his first at Stamford Bridge.

The 2-2 draw brought an end to our winning run in March and means we head into the international break on a frustrating note, but Joao Felix is still upbeat about the state of this Chelsea team ahead of the final two months of the campaign.

‘We felt we deserved the three points,’ he said after yesterday’s game.

‘We did a great match. We are back. The team are playing good in my opinion. We just need to fix some errors. That happens.

‘The team is playing with more confidence. We are confident about the games we have ahead. We need to keep working and fix some mistakes we did during the game.’

On an individual level, Joao Felix has been seriously unlucky in front of goal in his time as a Chelsea player so far, regularly hitting the woodwork or being denied by the offside flag.

Having opened his Blues account at West Ham last month, the attacker scored for the first time on home soil with a well-placed left-footed strike that just evaded Jordan Pickford. This time he got the rub of the green off the woodwork, the ball rolling into the net via the inside of the right-hand post.

‘I just shot like I’m doing the last games!’ he explained with a glint in his eye.

‘This time it went in! I’m very happy with that and I want to keep it going now and score more.’
