Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has spoken of his desire to stay at Chelsea ahead of the 2022/23 season and believes he can continue fulfilling his childhood dreams by prolonging his career at the Blues.
The Italian is entering the final season of his current contract at Stamford Bridge after joining the club on a five-year deal in 2018.
The Blues signed Jorginho from Italian side Napoli five years ago and despite media speculation linking the holding midfielder with a return to Italy, our no.5 says he finds it easy to block out the noise as he joins in our preparations for the 2022/23 campaign in Los Angeles.
‘Of course, I love Chelsea. I feel very well here and of course, I’d like to stay,’ Jorginho said at our training base in California.
‘But you know, there is a lot going on and we don’t know. I am here now and I have contract and I love to be here, I feel very well here. So I don’t think about moving anywhere.
‘For many years now [there’s speculation]. Every single year,’ Jorginho states. ‘I don’t think like this. I just think about where I am and focus 100 per cent. I’m at Chelsea and I think about Chelsea 100 per cent.’
The 30-year-old concedes that it has been a life ambition of his to win trophies, and after adding the Super Cup and Club World Cup to his honours list last season, he believes he is in the right environment to continue doing just that.
‘The motivation is that I do what I love. This was my dream and so the motivation is that I do what I dreamed when I was a kid,’ Jorginho says with pride.
‘I dreamt that I could win – and so if I win the same title it is still special. I motivate myself to work hard, push hard every single day because I do what I love.’
