It was a 50th Chelsea clean sheet for Kepa Arrizabalaga at Brentford on Wednesday night but it was mixed emotions for our goalkeeper after the game, who believes we dropped two points.
Graham Potter’s side now remain undefeated in five Premier League games, four of which coming under our new head coach.
However, despite recording a fifth clean sheet on the bounce, Kepa believes it should have been two points more at the Gtech Community Stadium.
‘We are not happy because in the last 15 or 20 minutes, we were playing all the time in their box. We had clear opportunities, and we should have scored,’ the Spaniard said.
‘We wanted three points to be fighting at the top and to stay as high as we can.’
When reflecting on his own personal performance, after a night where he was forced to make five saves, the shot-stopper admitted he is in a great moment of his Blues career.
‘I’m feeling very well and confident. With and without the ball I am feeling great,’ he said after the contest. ‘I feel good and as I am helping the team when they need, so for that I am happy.’
Kepa is the only Chelsea player to have played every single minute under Potter, and he says the confidence the head coach has instilled in him since he walked through the door is a contributing factor in his fine form.
‘Every player needs confidence and a push from the head coach. For a goalkeeper, maybe it is even more important when you play games in a row.
‘You always have to be aware, as in training it isn’t the same. Now I am confident, and I think I am playing well. I need to keep working.’
