Kepa Arrizabalaga’s incredible stop against Aston Villa in October has been named as the Premier League’s Castrol Save of the Season.
The Spaniard beat off some strong competition to land the prestigious award for his incredible save to deny Jacob Ramsey, in a game we would win 2-0 at Villa Park courtesy of a Mason Mount brace.
The save in question was a stunning reaction stop from Kepa to deny the Villa midfielder, diving low to his right to tip the shot away after firstly keeping out John McGinn’s initial effort.
He rightly won the October Save of the Month award for the stop and can now add the seasonal prize to his CV too.
Up against Kepa was Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Newcastle’s Nick Pope, who both had two entries in the eight-strong nominations list, as well as Gavin Bazunu of Southampton, Manchester United’s David De Gea and Everton and England stopper, Jordan Pickford.
Congratulations, Kepa!
