Chelsea Women’s Lauren James and Erin Cuthbert have been nominated for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Goal of the Month award for November, after netting impressive strikes against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
We produced a clinical attacking display in a 3-1 victory against Manchester United in our first league game of November. James was on hand to score our second goal of the night with an expertly taken left-footed finish, sweeping the ball across Mary Earps which nestled sweetly into the far corner.
Cuthbert earns recognition for her sensational long-range strike against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in our second and last league fixture of November. The midfielder watched the ball drop kindly on the edge of the box, teeing herself up before firing into the back of the net in emphatic style in front of the Matthew Harding Stand.
These goals helped us secure back-to-back league victories in November, six points which helped us claim a three-point lead at the top of the table with two more league matches to play during December.
Both players have enjoyed an impressive run of form in recent weeks, contributing both goals and assists to help maintain our title challenge ahead of a hectic domestic and European fixture schedule which precedes the Christmas break.
Voting for Goal of the Month is now open and the vote will close at 10am on Monday.
