Chelsea can confirm Lauren James has withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and South Africa.
James sustained a calf injury prior to our Champions League victory over FC Twente and will now begin and undertake her recovery at Cobham.
The 23-year-old has featured in four of our opening five fixtures this season, scoring against Crystal Palace in the Women’s Super League.
There remains strong representation in the England squad despite James’ withdrawal, with Hannah Hampton, Millie Bright, Lucy Bronze and Aggie Beever-Jones all selected to represent the Lionesses.
