Chelsea Women’s Lauren James has been nominated for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Goal of the Month award for February, after her wonderful solo strike during our 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

We earned a hard-fought three points against Spurs in east London at the start of the month thanks to goals from Jess Carter, Guro Reiten and James, the latter earning recognition for her sensational run and finish which put us 2-1 ahead just before the half-hour mark.

After picking the ball up on the right-hand side, James drifted infield and continued her run into the penalty area, skipping past three attempted challenges before nestling the ball perfectly into the far corner to restore our lead.

James, who scored her first goal for the England national team on Thursday night versus South Korea, possesses an abundance of quality and creativity, not to mention prowess in front of goal. The forward has added consistency to her game as the season has progressed, and she will be integral to the Blues' hopes of success across four competitions when the players return from the international break.

The 21-year-old goes up against Chloe Kelly of Manchester City, former Blue Bethany England of Tottenham Hotspur, Hannah Cain of Leicester City and Jordan Nobbs of Aston Villa for this WSL Goal of the Month award.

Voting for Goal of the Month is now open and the vote will close at 10am on Monday 20 February. Click here to cast your vote for Lauren
