Marc Cucurella marked his 100th Premier League appearance with a smart finish, as he helped the Blues secure a 3-1 victory over Wolves, and the Spaniard credits his team-mates for much of his success this campaign.

It was an important evening at the Bridge as the Blues picked up three points under the floodlights. We got off to the perfect start in SW6 as Tosin Adarabioyo opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal for the club after VAR had overturned an offside decision.

Although Wolves fought back and equalised before the break, goals from Cucurella and Noni Madueke ensured the visitors couldn’t respond as we returned to the top four.

Cucurella believes his side deserved the victory, and was particularly delighted to score his second Premier League goal of the campaign, marking a century of top-flight appearances in style.

‘I think the team deserved it,’ he opened. ‘We came through a tough moment and today we showed we wanted to win the game from the first minute.

‘It’s important we changed this moment. Maybe in the last few minutes of the first half we didn’t play our game and didn’t manage the situation, but in the second half, we showed we wanted to win the game and we are really happy.

‘We have a young squad but we have a lot of talent. I think maybe we need to manage the games better because in most of the games we have scored first but then we concede, but this is part of the process. We are really happy and we know we need to take it game by game and we are focused on the next 90 minutes.’

Cucurella's finish saw him inside the opponent’s 18-yard box once again, similar to his first Premier League goal against Brentford a month prior.

He explained: ‘We tried to work in training to create the right space, and the ball came to me and I was able to score. We scored another goal like this against Brentford. I think the important thing is we continue to work on this in training.

‘Personally, in the first half, it wasn’t really for me, but I tried to play better in the second half. I had the chance to score and I’m very happy to help the team. I think this game will give a lot of confidence to the team.’

Speaking on his own form this season, Marc is satisfied with his contributions but is hopeful of even more to come.

He said: ‘I think I came from a tough season – it wasn’t easy my first two seasons here – but I think we have stability now and I think the manager has helped a lot. We have a good plan for every game so we can build from this.

‘We have all the things to improve, so we need to go step by step. I think there have been good things this season, but we can’t be happy enough, we can improve. The season is long so we need to play all the games and let's see where we can finish.’

The Spanish international credits the Chelsea squad for playing a huge part in his success, commenting on how close they have become.

Cucurella continued: ‘My team-mates have helped a lot and we have been together for a long time. It’s one of the parts that are very important in creating relationships. We can help everyone.

‘Football is a team game. We need to have a good relationship outside the pitch so that inside the pitch we can fight together and we can help our team-mates. If we can play like today with this desire, we have the talent to win a lot of games.’
