Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of striker Marc Guiu from FC Barcelona.

The Spaniard has agreed a five-year deal with the Blues, which includes a further one-year option, and will join up with his new teammates for pre-season.

'It's an immense joy to sign for Chelsea and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited,’ said the 18-year-old. ‘Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League.

'Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club.'

Guiu is a product of Barcelona’s academy who was given a taste of senior football last summer when he featured for the Catalans in a pre-season fixture against Vissel Kobe.

Further first-team involvement followed in October 2023. Guiu was named as a substitute in a La Liga game against Granada before being handed his debut against Athletic Club.

Introduced with seven minutes to play and the game goalless, Guiu scored what proved to be the winner within a minute of making his professional debut.

He made six further first-team appearances during the 23/24 season – and netted his first UEFA Champions League goal in a group-stage fixture against Royal Antwerp.

Top scorer for Spain at last summer’s UEFA European Under-17 Championship, Guiu made the step up to represent his country at the Under-19 age group during the 23/24 campaign.

He will now begin the next chapter of his career with the Blues. Welcome to Chelsea, Marc!
