Chelsea monitoring Dybala

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala.

According to France Football, the Blues are looking at options to bring the Argentine to Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour under Andrea Pirlo and only has one year left on his contract. Dybala has only scored three times this season.

The report also states that Chelsea and Tottenham are the two clubs interested in signing the attacker, with both clubs valuing him around £40 million.

Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved hinted at Dybala potentially leaving the club in the summer.

‘We missed Dybala,’ he said. ‘I think he hasn’t played more than 800 minutes with us this season.

‘His presence would give us more options upfront. He has one year left in his contract and I have nothing to add. Juventus will evaluate every opportunity in the market.’

Southgate pleased with Mount

Gareth Southgate was pleased with Mason Mount’s performance in England’s 5-0 victory over San Marino.

Speaking in his press conference, the England manager singled out a couple of players and their performances with Mount, who got the assist for the third, being one of them.

‘Mount in the first half was excellent, he set the tone,’ the Three Lions boss said. ‘So, I thought there were a lot of good things.

‘He’s a top player. It’s not only his work on the ball but his work to win it back.’

According to Opta, the Chelsea Academy graduate created eight chances in open play in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch.

The last player to create more in an entire match in a European World Cup qualifier was Xavi for Spain, who created nine against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2009.

‘His weight of passing was excellent, and his all-round game was very good,’ Southgate added. ‘I was struck last night when he was talking to you guys how mature he was.’

US coach on Pulisic’s return

Gregg Berhalter revealed why he only gave Christian Pulisic 45 minute on his return to national team action.

Speaking in his press conference, the American coach was delighted to see the Chelsea winger back in the camp and is preparing to return him to Stamford Bridge in a good way.

‘It was a planned substitution,’ Berhalter said. ‘Before the game, we knew he was only going to play 45 minutes, and when I think about his minutes, we want him to progress safely.

‘I think the natural progression is a half, and then let him play more against Northern Ireland, a lot more in that case. I think that will set him up nicely to gain fitness here with the national team and go back to Chelsea in a good way.’

The US coach was still impressed by what he saw from our number 10 as his side beat Jamaica 4-1 in their friendly last night.

‘I thought he grew as the game went on and he became dangerous,’ he added. ‘He was very aggressive coming inside and they were compact.

‘They had a lot of numbers and it was difficult to get his shots through, but he was certainly a major factor in that first half.’
