Ferdinand urges Chelsea to sign Aguero
Rio Ferdinand believes the Blues should sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero in the summer when he becomes a free agent.
Speaking on his YouTube show, the former Manchester United centre-back believes the Argentine still has a lot to offer in the Premier League.
‘Since Thomas Tuchel has arrived, they are top of almost every category,’ Ferdinand said. '[Least] goals conceded, chances created.
‘Seriously, the way he has gone in there and done what he has done you have to give him credit.’
However, the former England international believes signing a striker with the amount of experience as Aguero could further strengthen our strong attack.
‘If I’m Chelsea, I take him now,’ he added. ‘I go and get him, quick.
‘If I’m them I go get Aguero if I can’t get a Haaland or someone like that.’
The 32-year-old is ranked fourth in the all-time Premier League goalscorer charts and is six goals behind Andy Cole in third.
Kroos losing sleep over semi-final
Toni Kroos has admitted he has been losing sleep over tonight’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Chelsea.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the German praised how well the Blues played when they faced each other in Madrid last week.
‘In the first 25 minutes, we didn’t press well and were a yard late,’ he said. ‘That’s what they wanted.’
The Blues got a crucial away goal through Christian Pulisic, which was later cancelled out by a Karim Benzema strike. The midfielder also praised Thomas Tuchel for how he set up the team.
‘In my 15 years of playing football, I’ve never lost sleep,’ Kroos added. ‘They showed in Madrid that they play as a team.
‘They have a German coach so that doesn’t surprise me. They defend well and have pace up front, those are their strengths.’
Owen predicts Chelsea to beat Madrid
Former England international Michael Owen believes Chelsea will beat Real Madrid to advance to the Champions League final tonight.
Speaking in a report that was repeated in the Metro, the 2001 Ballon d'Or winner said he believes the Blues have what it takes to knock out Zinedine Zidane’s men at Stamford Bridge.
‘Chelsea have a huge opportunity as they take on Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge,’ he said. ‘This is the type of game where Thomas Tuchel thrives.
‘With an away goal in the bag, he is sure to have his side well drilled with the aim of giving nothing away.’
The last time the Blues made the Champions League final, we also overcame Spanish opposition in the semi-final, beating Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate to win our first Champions League title.
‘If Chelsea are happy to sit in, I think there is every chance they could nick it on the break against a Madrid defence that’s looked shaky in recent weeks,’ he added.
‘With that in mind, I’m siding with the Blues to go through and make it a second all-English UEFA Champions League final in three years.’
