Blues linked to Palace attacker
The Daily Mail is suggesting that Chelsea are set to join the race to land Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.
The attacking midfielder only joined the Eagles in the summer from Reading but his impressive performances in the Premier League have already got a number of top clubs reportedly keeping tabs on him, with the Daily Mail report stating that Chelsea, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are all apparently admirers, along with Everton and Lille.
‘Crystal Palace are reportedly set for a fight to prevent midfielder Michael Olise from joining a major European club in the summer,’ the report states.
‘Olise has made decent progress at Selhurst Park this term since his arrival ahead of the season from Reading for £8million.
‘Although he has featured 18 times in the Premier League since, scoring twice, only six of them have come in the starting XI as manager Patrick Vieira gradually eases him into the side.
‘Yet, according to reports, there is plenty of excitement already brewing over the predominantly right-sided midfielder with Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Lille and Bayern Munich all keeping tabs on his availability.’
‘When he plays well, you win’
Joe Cole was full of praise for N’Golo Kante in Chelsea’s impressive 2-0 Champions League win over Lille.
The former Blue watched over proceedings for BT Sport and was left in no doubt at which Chelsea player was the driving force behind the first leg victory.
‘Kante was outstanding and it’s so many times now when we have seen him in Champions League nights where he has driven the team forward,' he said on BT Sport.'Honesty from a football manager should be a given but so many of them get so protective of their team.
‘He has clear boundaries with his players, he [Tuchel] probably thought Kante was slightly off it the last two games and he was happy he was on it tonight.
'I don’t think there is a midfielder as influential as him in our league for the last 10 years. Everything he does is so good and when he plays well, you win.'
Club World Cup badge to stay?
The Sun is reporting that the Blues will be granted permission to wear the gold Club World Cup badge on our shirts for the remainder of the current campaign.
Thomas Tuchel’s side lifted the trophy for the first time in our history earlier this month and the badges have been in place in our wins against Crystal Palace and Lille this week.
Now the Sun is speculating that the gold badges will be there to stay for a while yet.
‘Chelsea will proudly wear the Club World Cup badge on their shirts for the rest of the Premier League season,’ states the report.
‘Sunsport can reveal that the Blues - who won the FIFA competition for the first time earlier this month - have had their request accepted by the League after failed previous attempts by Manchester United and Liverpool.
‘Chelsea, who beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the final in Abu Dhabi, wore the badge on their away shirts at Palace on Saturday but thought it was only a one-off.
‘But League bosses agree with Chelsea that having the title of world champions is positive for English football and the rules - which banned changes to a kit during the season - have been bent a little.
‘When Liverpool won the Club World Cup in Qatar in 2019, they were only allowed to wear the badge once in a clash at home to Wolves.
‘United were refused permission after they won the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup, the first time an English club won the tournament.’
