Mount marks Champions League triumph

Mason Mount has joined Chelsea team-mate Reece James in getting a tattoo after last summer’s magical night in Porto.

The midfielder provided the assist for Kai Havertz’s winning goal in May and after months of deliberation has now got a tattoo to mark the occasion on his stomach.

Speaking on his Instagram, the Cobham graduate explained his decision to get the tattoo, which pictures a dragon holding the coveted Champions League trophy.

‘It’s hard to put into words, I’d say. It’s something you dream of as a kid,’ Mount said. ‘You win, win and win and get closer and closer and it starts to become more visual and you can see it.

‘That feeling of all those years of hard work has come to this moment and then you do it, it is special.

‘It is something you dream of for a long time, and then you finally do it.’

‘Toni Rudiger. We are good friends and we talk often. I’m very happy for him that he has developed so well at Chelsea.

‘When we remember where he was a year ago, sometimes on the bench, sometimes in the stands. And now he’s a guaranteed starter and playing at a world-class level because he believed in himself and remained patient.

‘For me, he is currently the best German defender, and definitely in the top five at his spot in Europe.’
