Traore linked with Chelsea

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore could be the next player to join Chelsea this summer, according to the Daily Express.

The Blues have already completed the signings of Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Bettinelli ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season tomorrow and new reports claim Traore is the next name on Thomas Tuchel’s shopping list.

The Spanish international, who was a team-mate of Cesar Azpilicueta at Euro 2020, is regarded as one of the fastest players around and a strong dribbler, and is thought to be open to the idea of leaving Wolves following the departure of manager Nuno Espirito Santo to Tottenham earlier in the summer.

The report claims Traore’s versatility is one of the reasons he could appeal to Tuchel, having featured on either flank as an attacking winger or a wing-back in the Premier League last season.

It is claimed Chelsea would need to see off competition from both Liverpool and Leeds United for Traore’s signature.

Keane backs Chelsea for the title

Manchester United and Premier League legend Roy Keane has said Chelsea’s signing of Romelu Lukaku has cemented us among the favourites for the title this season, as reported in the Mirror.

The Irishman has been impressed by the Blues since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as head coach and believes that the addition of a new centre-forward in Lukaku will see us go from strength to strength.

‘Chelsea have got energy, a new manager, new ideas, and they’ve always had quality,’ he said.

‘You were looking at the last year or two going without that out-and-out goalscorer, but Lukaku gives them a great chance.

‘He’s guaranteed goals. Chelsea, the way they’re playing, the sharpness, the quality they will have on the ball, it guarantees you 20 goals.’

He also feels the arrival of Lukaku could make it a two-horse race in the Premier League, taking us beyond the reach of Liverpool and his former club Manchester United, leaving us to fight it out with Manchester City for the trophy.

‘I know Liverpool have a lot of players coming back, but I would still be looking at City and Chelsea.

‘Unless United or Liverpool pull something out of the bag in the next week or two with a few brilliant signings, I can’t see beyond City or Chelsea.’

Neville says Lukaku suits Chelsea

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that new Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku is a perfect fit for the current Blues side.

The former Manchester United and England right-back was giving his view on the upcoming Premier League season on the Overlap podcast, and felt Chelsea was the only Premier League club he could see Lukaku playing for.

He also believes the Belgian international is following in a recent tradition at Stamford Bridge of powerful centre-forwards with an eye for goal.

‘Chelsea are the club that have had that type of striker,’ he said.

‘A Diego Costa, a Didier Drogba, a single-point striker, that physical presence that wants to carry the line.

‘They’ve had that in their armoury for 20 years, it suits Chelsea Football Club. Lukaku will score 25 goals for Chelsea.'
