Moises Caicedo insists he and his Chelsea team-mates will only push themselves harder after making it seven successive victories in all competitions with a 2-1 win over Brentford.

After Thursday evening's trip to Almaty in the Conference League, it was back to domestic action for Enzo Maresca's side and ten changes were made to the starting XI. It ensured the Blues were fresh and ready to take on the Bees, who had won on their previous three visits to Stamford Bridge.

Our first-half performance was one of patience, which was eventually rewarded when Marc Cucurella headed home a Noni Madueke cross in the 43rd minute. Chances came and went to add to our advantage after the break; Nicolas Jackon finally did so with a well-taken finish with ten to play.

Bryan Mbeumo pulled a goal back for the visitors in second-half stoppage time and that meant a nervy ending ensued. However, the Blues saw out the game to secure another three points and solidify second spot in the Premier League table.

Caicedo's performances, either as an inverting full-back or midfielder, have been influential during our impressive run of form. He spoke of his happiness after full-time and was adamant complacency would not become a problem for the Blues.

‘It’s always important to win at home and seven wins in a row feels so good,' he said. ‘We are going to keep on working hard, that’s the most important thing. To keep on winning and to keep the momentum, we are going to work even harder.'

On Brentford's late pressure, the Ecuadorian added: ‘In the Premier League you never know the result until the end. We were really good and did well. Sometimes you need to suffer a little bit and we suffered to win the game.’

The manner and quality of Caicedo's performance against Brentford resulted in supporters comparing the midfielder to a Chelsea legend: N'Golo Kante.

Given the 23-year-old grew up with the name of the French star emblazoned on a shirt, it's no surprise he was hugely appreciative to receive such praise.

'He is my idol, everyone knows this,' said Caicedo.

'As I've said before, I just try to help the team and my team-mates. He [Kante] was a very big player for Chelsea. I always watched videos of him and now I try to give my best.'

There was also praise from Moises for Blues head coach Enzo Maresca and the Chelsea supporters, who were excellent in helping their side get over the line in the latter stages.

‘He [Maresca] helps us a lot with playing under pressure – and we are doing fantastic so far,' said Caicedo. 'The manager and the fans help us a lot to win games. They give us the tools to be even better in every game.’
