Moises Caicedo was disappointed that the Blues were unable to turn our possession into goals after we suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.
Despite an early opener from Mikel Merino, the Blues probably finished the first half the better of the two sides with chances falling to Marc Cucurella and Pedro Neto, among others. After the break, although it was an even second period, Chelsea looked most likely to score but weren't able to come away with a share of the spoils in North London.
Moises was left feeling aggrieved that we were unable to find the equaliser at the Emirates, but he felt that there were positives to take, with the Ecuadorian pointing to our spirit and desire in the face of multiple injuries.
‘It was a tough game,’ Moises opened.
‘The first 20 minutes they were better, and it’s frustrating because I felt we dominated the game after that. We were better than them, but we needed to score goals to win the game. Every game is a fight for me. It doesn’t matter if it’s a derby.
‘We showed good character and that’s for sure why we were good. [The injured players] are very important for us, they help us a lot with scoring goals. Now they are out but we have more players. We have Neto playing as a striker, we have Enzo, and everyone is working hard to win the games.’
The 23-year-old acknowledged that although his side might be young, age is just a number, with qualities such as character and desire being more important to Moises.
He continued: ‘Sometimes the manager has said that it doesn’t matter the age. We are men. Believing on the pitch, showing our character and our work rate will for sure help us win games.’
Despite the setback, the midfielder recognised that our target hasn’t changed with the squad focused on securing European qualification.
He added: ‘For sure we want to play in the Champions League next season and things are close, but we are focused on ourselves because that’s the most important thing.
‘We are working hard to try and win every game and get there to play in the Champions League – that’s the target.’
