There was a moment to remember for a family of Mykhailo Mudryk’s fellow Ukrainians when they met the player after the final whistle at Saturday’s game against Southampton.
Marko and Luka, plus their mother Nataliya, who are refugees from the war in their homeland, were guests at Stamford Bridge and they were joined by father Victor who was able to fly in from Ukraine on the day to watch the Blues, and to add to the occasion, celebrate Marko’s birthday!
Sadly, it was a defeat they witnessed on the pitch but having watched Mudryk in action during the second half, the family were greeted afterwards by our January signing from Shakhtar Donetsk.
As can be seen below, the experience brought smiles to faces, especially when as well as greeting his compatriots and posing photos with them, Mudryk signed and presented a special boot, and a Chelsea shirt.
The boys are both accomplished junior footballers in their own right, with their prowess with a ball a huge factor in getting accepted onto the Ukraine scheme.
