A total of 9686 participants were engaged by Chelsea Foundation during Black History Month.
Throughout October, Chelsea Foundation delivered a Making History Everyday workshop across schools and wider communities, celebrating the journeys and successes of Black leaders, trailblazers and pioneers in the Chelsea community.
Participants were encouraged to nominate their own history-maker, such as someone within their local community or a well-known figure who is considered to be making history every day.
From this, a select number of nominees and their nominators were invited to Stamford Bridge for a special Making History Everyday celebration event hosted by Chelsea Foundation.
Paul Elliott CBE, who was Chelsea FC’s first captain from Black origin, attended the event and said: ‘The work that the Chelsea Foundation does is exceptional and representative of the communities in the room and the communities they serve.
‘It was great to meet all the nominees and their nominators who are an inspiration to themselves. Education is the most important thing in life, so to be part of such a fantastic event educating the next generation was a real pleasure.’
The Making History Everyday workshop was delivered in more than 65 schools across London, Essex, Middlesex and Surrey.
This included an exclusive workshop with Goldfinch Primary School at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham. Mia Fishel, Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence joined the session.
For the next 12 months, Chelsea FC and Chelsea Foundation will profile Black gamechangers by highlighting influential leaders in the community, icons from both our men’s and women’s team, and many more.
