Following France’s 2-1 victory over Belgium last night at New York Stadium in Rotherham, we caught up with new Blues signing Eve Perisset to get her reaction to the win.
France now sit top of the table in Group D at the UEFA Women’s Euros, ahead of second-placed Iceland, with last night’s win securing Les Bleus a spot in the quarter-finals, which will take place next week.
Perisset played the full 90 minutes for the French side, having shown a strong display in defence. Speaking at full-time to the club, Persisset said: ‘The feeling is very good tonight, I am happy we have qualified for the quarter-finals.
‘Everything has been going well so far. We have won our first two games and qualified, we are in a good place. Now we go back to training, we will do a lot of rest and recovery work as the games are coming thick and fast.’
Perisset is yet to face a fellow Blues player in the group stages but looks forward to meeting some familiar faces in the next round and has been keeping track of their progress.
‘I am looking out for the other Chelsea players in the tournament. I am happy to see them progress through to the knock-out stage.
‘I know that we could play a team with some Chelsea players next; I am looking forward to playing against them.’
The French wing-back has also enjoyed being on English soil and getting to meet some Blues fans in recent weeks during the tournament and took the time to look ahead to joining her new team-mates at the Cobham training ground later this summer before the squad head off to America for our pre-season tour.
‘I am very happy to be here and to discover the country, the infrastructure and the fans. They are very welcoming and follow me either at the stadium or from home.
‘I am very excited to start with Chelsea, meet my new teammates and the coaching, and start a new adventure at Chelsea FC.’
