Young defender Harry McGlinchey has signed his first professional contract with Chelsea.
McGlinchey joined the Blues during his Under-14s season, after a spell at Plymouth Argyle, and made his debut for our Under-18s away at Arsenal in the latter stages of the 2023/24 campaign, while still a schoolboy.
Since signing his scholarship in July, the defender has been enjoying his first full season under head coach Hassan Sulaiman. He has made eight appearances for the Under-18s across all competitions so far this season, as well as featuring in Under-17 Premier League Cup fixtures.
In addition to his Chelsea commitments, McGlinchey has regularly represented the Republic of Ireland Under-18s on international duty since the start of 2024/25, and was named the country’s Men’s Under-17 International Player of the Year last month.
Congratulations Harry!
