Chelsea head to the north-east this weekend looking to extend an impressive winning record against Newcastle United.
The Blues have won our last four Premier League games against the Magpies without conceding, and we have been victorious in seven of the last eight meetings. We are also looking to win three in a row at St James’ Park for the first time since September 1958.
Here, we look back at those last four consecutive victories over the Toon Army…
Newcastle 0 Chelsea 2 – November 2020
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea kickstarted this winning run in the midst of lockdown football on Tyneside, with Tammy Abraham on the scoresheet as the Blues moved second in the Premier League table.
Federico Fernandez set us on the way with an own goal before Abraham sealed the points following a smart pass from Timo Werner.
Chelsea 2 Newcastle 0 – February 2021
Werner was the headline act at Stamford Bridge as the German forward scored and assisted in a routine victory in Thomas Tuchel’s third home game in charge.
Olivier Giroud was also among the goals as Chelsea moved back into the top four on a night the new boss described as ‘the perfect evening.’
Newcastle 0 Chelsea 3 – October 2021
A pair of Reece James thunderbolts helped the Blues to another win at St James’ Park as Newcastle’s struggling start to the new campaign continued, with Jorginho adding a late third from the penalty spot.
The three points helped Tuchel’s side move to the top of the league table and secured back-to-back wins for us on Tyneside for the first time since 2009.
Chelsea 1 Newcastle 0 – March 2022
Kai Havertz fired in a dramatic late winner with supreme control and composure as an afternoon of toiling in front of goal eventually ended with three points at the Bridge.
The Magpies, revived under Eddie Howe and new ownership, provided stern opposition but were ultimately beaten by a piece of magic from our silky German number 29.
