Our new Nike third kit for the 2024/25 season celebrates the explosion of fresh creativity and attitude that shook west London and the world far beyond five decades ago, and thrust youth to the fore in a way that still resonate today.

On sale today (Tuesday), the kit also celebrates the women's game and its acceleration, and it was unveiled on Sunday when worn first by Chelsea Women against Arsenal in a pre-season match in the United States.

In games to come, the men’s team will put the shirts on too and one thing is guaranteed – all the players are sure to stand out!

Safety pinning our hopes on…

Standing out and being yourself - not like anybody elsefor this punk message that informs the latest Chelsea kit in colour and detail, we head back in time, back to the 1970s and popular culture that is old and stale.

The hippie aesthetic and sound from the previous decade still prevails with just an added splash of superficial glam. No one is speaking to or for the kids and England has rarely been more ripe for a creative and cultural earthquake. Not for the first time, the epicentre for this is London’s fashionable Chelsea and the King’s Road.

Not just Chelsea – our end of Chelsea – the World’s End and a radical clothing boutique that gave birth to the whole punk rock explosion.

From just 10 minutes’ walk away from Stamford Bridge came the shockwaves that changed so much for so many people. Suddenly on Saturdays, punks and Chelsea fans mixed in great numbers on the King’s Road and in the Shed End too. Famous members of punk rock groups are Chelsea supporters to this day. If punk belonged to anywhere, it belonged most to west London.

Never mind the… Here’s the Chels!

Punk was all about youth, energy and standing out – and nothing stood out more than the dayglo colours plus black designs that inspire the look of the new Nike third kit for 2024/25.

The shirt and the shorts have eye-catching yellow and pink trim and you can glance at the weave for plenty of ripped-up, clashing punk patterns revived. A ‘Blues’ patch inside is etched in typography that is straight out of 1977.

A vertical, double Nike Swoosh nods to the acceleration of the women’s game. Two logos. Two teams. One goal. Worn by both the men's and women's squads, it points upward to celebrate the rise of women's football. Together we rise.

The lion that replaces the full club badge is a double layer too – giving it a 3D feel.

Dri-FIT ADV technology, Nike’s pinnacle standard for performance apparel, provides reinforcement, mobility and breathability where it is needed most.

Punk’s not dead!

With young players to the fore in 2024 at Chelsea, revisiting one of the greatest youth cult explosions could not be better timed.
