Over 60 primary school girls from across Kingston enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of football at our Nothing Stops Us Festival at Goals in Tolworth.

With the help of Chelsea Foundation coaches, the students took part in a variety of activities tailored to replicate the skills of Chelsea Women fan favourites Fran Kirby, Millie Bright, Lauren James and Jess Carter.

Female staff from each of the participating schools were also involved on the day with sessions focused on Continuing Professional Development.

Zoe Lewin, a student from Green Lane Primary School, said: ‘I liked learning new skills such as defending, how to shoot and passing to a team mate. I really like playing football and want to show people girls can do it not just boys. I had a great time and want to play more football.’

Mrs Lucy Mozo, a teacher from Kings Oak Primary School, said: ‘We were lucky enough to bring 10 year-four students along to the Nothing Stops Us Festival. It was a really fun day, we identified girls from the school who wouldn’t normally play football and they’ve all said they had such a great time and learnt loads of new skills.’

Victor Odeyemi, senior schools education officer at Chelsea Foundation, said: ‘It was a pleasure to see the girls enjoying football in an environment which they felt comfortable and confident in. Each girl went home with a Chelsea FC scarf and football to continue practicing the skills they learned on the day and enjoy football. It’s safe to say the girls really believe Nothing Stops Us.’

Chelsea FC Women’s Nothing Stops Us campaign is about the unstoppable momentum of women’s football, from the elite game through to the grassroots.
