A first outing in Chelsea blue has left Oriane Jean-Francois raring for more.

The 23-year-old summer arrival made her debut for the Blues in Tuesday night's UEFA Women's Champions League win against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.

This afternoon could see Jean-Francois make her maiden appearance in the Women's Super League when we make the short trip to north London to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Coming off the bench for the final 15 minutes of the Group B encounter in midweek, Jean-Francois - who moved to London from Paris Saint-Germain - also made her comeback from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury which had seen her sidelined for 364 days.

She sustained the serious knee injury while at PSG in a Champions League qualifying match away to Manchester United. To start the next chapter of her career in the same country felt something like a full circle moment for the French midfielder.

'It had been almost a year since I played my last game,' Jean-Francois said. 'My last game was not in London, but it was in the UK so it feels very special to return playing in the same country after such a long journey.

'It's been a difficult journey, but it felt so good to be back out there on the pitch. I'm feeling good and very grateful to be back.

'To play my first game for Chelsea at home and here at Stamford Bridge - this is where I signed my contract only a few months ago. I'm very happy to play my first minutes in blue.

'I know that I have some things that I can improve on. I will be working on all of that in training. I want to keep improving. I want to be a big part of this team and bring what I know I can bring.'

A London derby awaits Jean-Francois and her Chelsea team-mates this afternoon as we return to WSL duty after a fortnight against the Gunners.

And although we have already prevailed with a London derby victory this season - an emphatic 7-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park - Jean-Francois remained sidelined for that match and hopes to play her part this time around in north London.

'I'm excited,' Jean-Francois added. 'I'm excited to be a part of this game. We are going in with confidence, especially after the win against Real Madrid.

'The games this season have been difficult, but we have got the results. That brings a lot of confidence going into this weekend.

'You don't want to lose against your rivals. These are always special games. And it's not just to play the game, but to win it. That's what we want to do and what we have to do for the fans.'
