After Cole Palmer's record-breaking and match-winning performance in our 4-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion, we look back on every occasion our No.20 has netted (at least) three times in a game for the Blues.
Since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2023, Palmer has shown himself to be one of the Premier League's most talented and creative attacking players. Whether scoring goals or setting up his team-mates, the England international's statistics are remarkable.
We celebrate his habit of producing brilliant goalscoring performances here, namely reflecting upon his hat-trick of hat-tricks in a Chelsea shirt and how he twice went one better...
Chelsea 4-3 Manchester United, April 2024
Manchester United felt they had three points in the bag when they led 3-2 with 98 minutes on the clock. But after Palmer's decisive intervention, they travelled back north empty-handed.
Palmer, who joined the Blues from Manchester City, had already struck once from the spot against his old local rivals. However, when Noni Madueke was fouled in the box he stepped up again to score a second penalty and equalise in the 100th minute of the game.
Unbelievably, Palmer wasn't finished there. Less than a minute later, a short corner routine saw Palmer smash a low drive through the bodies and into the back of the net, via a deflection off Scott McTominay, to complete a remarkable turnaround, break United hearts, and register his first Chelsea hat-trick.
Chelsea 6-0 Everton, April 2024
Everton had no answer to Palmer's talent in our biggest win of the 2023/24 season, as he got his second hat-trick for Chelsea, less than two weeks after his first, and then netted a fourth time.
Cole only required 29 minutes to claim the match ball as he fired us into a 3-0 lead. His full array of talents were displayed too: a curled precise shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, a header from close range, and a 40-yard lob over the stranded goalkeeper having intercepted a loose pass.
More was to come in the second half when we were awarded a penalty and Palmer calmly stepped up to convert in his usual style. That meant he had four goals in a game for the first time. It wouldn't be the last.
Hat-trick three: Chelsea 4-2 Brighton, September 2024
After the Blues had gone behind early, Palmer stole the show to end Brighton's hopes of leaving the Bridge with anything to show for their effort.
The 22-year-old had already hit the post and had a goal disallowed when he equalised with a simple finish from Nicolas Jackson's unselfish lay-off. And 10 minutes later he had completed a rapid-fire hat-trick via a penalty and stunning free-kick from 25 yards.
Yet before the opening period was up, Palmer added a fourth with a first-time finish to beat the keeper at his near post after latching on to Jadon Sancho's well-weighted through-ball.
That goal ensured Palmer became the first player to score four times in the first half of a Premier League match – and made it four wins in a row for Chelsea.
