Cole Palmer is remaining positive despite England's goalless draw against Slovenia at Euro 2024, which rounded off their group stage campaign.

The Three Lions still finished top of Group C but endured a difficult night Cologne, unable to break down the stubborn Slovenian resistance with the game ending in stalemate.

Palmer, however, made his senior major tournament debut for Gareth Southgate's side - appearing as a second-half substitute for Bukayo Saka.

The Blues star did show flashes of creativity on his first appearance at the finals, even if England struggled to fashion clear-cut chances, forcing a save from Jan Oblak in the final minutes.

Despite the Three Lions encountering some difficulties during the group stage, Palmer remains confident he can help the team when called upon.

'I'm still full of belief,' Palmer said. 'After the season I've had I don't see any reason why I should be down.

'So I will just try and stay positive and when I get on the pitch, try to make an impact.'

The England No.24's introduction came in testing circumstances, with the Three Lions struggling to break down Slovenia's defence.

But Palmer said he remained unfazed by the situation and will continue to perform whatever role the manager asks of him in the remainder of the tournament.

'I just tried to play my game when I went on and I think I did that,' added Cole. 'I tried to create chances and be positive.

'There's great players everywhere in the team, so I'm just supporting whoever is on the pitch [when substitute] and when I get my chance I need to try and show what I can do.'

Palmer could next feature again on Sunday when England face one of the best third-placed teams, still to be confirmed, in their Round of 16 tie in Gelsenkirchen.

And he is confident they will improve as the finals head into the knockout stage.

'Our goal was to qualify and finish top of the group and we've done that. But we know there's levels we can go up and hopefully we can show that,' said Palmer.

'All the games in the tournament are difficult as you can see, no matter who it is. So we know we need to move up through those [performance] levels and hopefully we can do that.'
