Cole Palmer believes that the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest could prove invaluable as the Blues eye a European place with two matches to go.
The Blues fought back from 2-1 down with 15 minutes to go after Mykhailo Mudryk had put us ahead after just eight minutes, following a spectacular pass from Palmer to pick out the Ukrainian.
Despite being down on the scoreline, Chelsea never gave in and following an equaliser from Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson headed home the winner to collect all three points at the City Ground.
Palmer was delighted with the late victory and believes that it can be the catalyst ahead of our final vital games in the Premier League.
‘We have two tough games and everything to fight for to get sixth place – which is our goal', Palmer opened.
‘Hopefully, we can get there and Chelsea as a football club can get back into Europe. It was a big win and we needed to win and to get three points. After going behind it’s great to get three points.'
Delving into specifics, Palmer pointed to wise words from assistant head coach Jesus Perez as key to the late turnaround, with the Englishman loving his football with the Blues.
He continued: ‘The first-half was a bit flat and we needed to move the ball a bit faster. The manager tweaked a few things at half-time which helped because we were losing a lot of duels and Jesus [Perez] told us to sort that out.
‘I’m enjoying my football and that’s what I came to do – play football. I’m just trying to enjoy it, take each game as it comes, try and keep my feet on the ground, work as hard as I possibly can and keep going.
‘We’re starting to gel together and I think everyone will see properly next season what we can do.’
The 22-year-old was also pleased to see his skipper return as Reece James played provider for the eventual winner at the City Ground.
Palmer added: ‘Everyone knows how good [Reece] is and to have him back is a big plus. Hopefully, he can stay fit and everyone knows how much he can help us.’
