Chelsea bring the curtain down on our UEFA Women’s Champions League Group D campaign with a short hop across the Channel to face Paris FC on matchday six tomorrow (Tuesday).
Victory against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge last week secured our passage into the quarter-finals as group winners with one game to spare. The Blues travel to the French capital looking to protect our unbeaten record in the group phase.
As for our opposition, Paris FC sit third in Group D and are still in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage. They will need to win on Tuesday night and hope that second place BK Hacken don’t beat bottom side Real Madrid who have failed to qualify themselves.
When and where?
We travel to Stade Charlety on matchday six of the UEFA Women’s Champions League this Tuesday 30 January, with kick-off at 5.45pm (UK time).
How to follow
As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.
DAZN will be broadcasting the game live, and those in the UK can watch via TNT Sports. The match will also be available on the DAZN Women’s Football YouTube channel, the Official Chelsea App and on the club website.
The form
Three wins and two draws from five matches to date sees us go into the final matchday of the group phase with a three-point lead at the top of Group D. We have taken 11 points from 15 available, scoring 11 goals and conceding five thus leaving us with a goal difference of 6.
As for Paris FC, they go into the match occupying third place in the group with two wins, one draw and two defeats to date. A win for Paris and anything less for Hacken would see the French side qualify for the quarter-final stage.
Our previous encounter with Paris FC at Stamford Bridge on matchday two in November saw us run out 4-1 winners on the night. Sam Kerr scored a hat-trick before Sophie Ingle swept home an expertly taken finish to secure our first victory of the group stage campaign.
Glance at the group
We go into matchday six having topped the group and we will be looking to preserve our unbeaten record and generate confidence ahead of the quarter-finals in March.
Paris FC trail second placed BK Hacken by a single point and the two teams face a straight shootout for the prize of qualification, with Real Madrid sitting bottom of the group.
Next up for the Blues
We return to Barclays Women’s Super League action when we welcome Everton to Kingsmeadow on Sunday 4 February.
Kick-off is scheduled for 6.45pm (UK time) and for supporters who are unable to attend the match, the fixture will be available to watch live on Sky Sports.
