Our first three points of the calendar year were earned against Everton last weekend. Andy Myers’ team dominated the game and Thierno Ballo’s brace, either side of an away equaliser, made sure of the win. After 17 league games we sit sixth on 28 points.

The opposition

Manchester City come to Cobham in pole PL2 position and without a defeat since early November. Twelve goals in their last two games have the visitors on 40 points after 18 games and on a six-game winning run.

From the dressing room

The win against Everton last week was the product of good performances over the last few weeks, and development squad forward George Nunn is pleased the team now have a base to build on.

‘We’ve now got the win, going into the next game our confidence is up. We have been working very hard and finally got the points some of our performances since Christmas have deserved,’ he said. 'We’ve got something to build on now and hopefully continue that against Man City on Sunday.

‘The mood's always high. We haven’t been getting the results we wanted but we all remained positive, trying to improve on our work. A positive is that we have continued to create chances, it’s just a matter of converting them from now on, which is obviously easier said than done.’

Nunn has featured 13 times for Andy Myers’ side this term and although most of his appearances have come in attack, the Republic of Ireland youth international has also featured in the less-familiar position of left wing-back.

‘It’s been an alright season, not the best I’ve had but I’m glad to be getting game time. As a striker, I want to contribute goals and assists to the team and it’s something I’ve got to keep working on,' he said.

‘I have been playing left wing-back and as a striker. Even though it’s been by circumstance I have enjoyed playing there [left wing-back]. I can see the whole pitch in front of me and I’m always open to playing anywhere the manager needs me to. Being a versatile player is important in the modern game and I’ve learned that more this season than ever.’

After the Man City game this weekend the squad have a week’s break from matches due to the international window. However Nunn’s focus remains on a strong finish to the season.

‘It will be good to have a little rest after this weekend’s game but we need to remain focused to try and finish as high as we can in the league. The main goal is to keep fighting until the end, if we keep working had through the international break it will set us up well for the remainder of the season.’
