Our young Blues begin the new week with an 7pm kick-off against a Manchester United side who are yet to lose a game in the PL2 this year...

Mark Robinson's side make the trip to Manchester to take on the young Red Devils in what is set up to be an entertaining clash between the two sides.

Our boys will be in buoyant spirits following the late winner against Arsenal last time out and we will be looking to carry that momentum into this game, as we look to increase the pressure at the top of the table.

Manchester United will not be an easy task however, as the team in red come into the fixture having not lost a PL2 game in their last seven.

Last time out

In our most recent PL2 outing, Chelsea left it late as a Leo Castledine deflected shot found its way into the back of the net, wrong-footing the Arsenal goalkeeper in the process.

It was an end-to-end game as both teams had chances to open the scoring.

Lewis Hall went close for us as he scuffed a shot inside the penalty box and Charles Sagoe Jr had his side’s best chance of the game as he somehow managed to put the ball wide with a shot that had beat Gaga Slonina.

With the match hanging in the balance and headed for a draw, second-half substitute Leo Castledine was in the right place to hit his first-time shot which proved to be decisive.

Reverse fixture

We played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against tonight’s opponents at Kingsmeadow earlier in the season.

Isak Hansen-Arroen gave his side the lead as the young Red Devils capitalised on an error.

Despite this setback, we came out in the second half and were clinical as Lewis Hall and Cesare Casadei scored our first two goals, six minutes apart from each other.

We thought we had sealed the win as Jude Soonsup-Bell came on and added a third, but things turned quickly as a minute into second-half stoppage time Casadei was sent-off.

The sending off seemed to have caused a few nerves and Shola Shoretire scored two late goals in second-half stoppage time to give his team a point which looked unlikely at one stage.

Opponents

Manchester United, despite being unbeaten this year, have drawn their last two games.

Our last victory against Manchester United in the PL2 was in the 2020/21 season when we were on the right side of a 6-1 scoreline.

On the scoresheet that day was, Marcel Lewis who scored twice, Jude Soonsup-Bell, Tino Anjorin who also scored two and Charlie Brown.

Today's game kicks-off at 7pm at Leigh Sports Village.
