Our development squad are undefeated in their last five matches and, following a win over West Ham last weekend, midfielder Ben Elliott spoke on the good chemistry within the team and how big a role that has played in the results and his own performances...

Mark Robinson's men will take on Manchester United in today's lunchtime kick-off at Kingsmeadow. As one of the in-form teams in the league at this present moment, Chelsea will be seeking to win two games on the bounce for the first time this season.

A number of players have been utilised frequently by Robinson in his starting line-ups. One player in particular who has shown his talent and quality this season is Ben Elliott and the midfielder provided more detail on why he believes he has been playing so well.

Good spirits

'It is a good environment right now within the group and I am enjoying my football so much,' the 19-year-old told us this week.

'I have the trust and freedom of the coaching staff to express myself and I feel that. Then obviously the trust that my team-mates show me has helped to accelerate my progress.

'There has been a lot of unit training that has been done with me so I am gaining a better understanding of what is required on a game-to-game basis.'

Elliott suffered an injury at the beginning of last season which kept him out for an extended period and he believes this stunted his development initially but now he is just happy that he is hitting the targets, while still recognising that he can get more goals and assists.

'The injury was annoying as I started last season well and I was training well but then I got injured,' he added. 'It was a little difficult when I came back because I had missed so much football but I managed to get back on the right path.

'Now that from a performance level I am getting close to what I want to achieve, I think adding some goals and assists to my game will help me get to the next level.

'I have been getting closer to scoring and I have the coaching team to thank for this, I just want to keep getting myself in the right positions to impact the game.'

Last time out

Last weekend, we battled hard to defeat West Ham 1-0 as Lewis Hall scored a fantastic goal to be the difference-maker in the match.

The midfielder, after a lay-off from Mason Burstow, collected the ball from just outside the area and created some space which allowed him to unleash a low drive shot that had too much pace for the goalkeeper to stop.

There were chances to double our lead and a late red card for Josh Brooking meant that our development squad had to endure some nervy moments at the end but we stood strong and secured the three points.

Our opponents

Saturday's opponents are still in search of their first win this season, coupled with the fact that they have conceded the most goals of any PL2 side in the league this season with 24.

Despite this, one loss in their last five games suggests that they will be a tough side to secure victory over.

Last home game against Red Devils

In our last home match against Manchester United, we played out a 1-1 draw against the young Red Devils. It was a game of late goals as Stamford Bridge hosted the occasion.

Harvey Vale gave us the lead just after the 70th minute mark as he converted from the penalty spot. However, Fernandez Carreras scored a late leveller three minutes from time to ensure that the spoils were shared.
