Our development squad return from the international break with the challenge of facing an in-form Crystal Palace side.

The match today (Monday) is scheduled to kick off at 7pm as Mark Robinson’s men look to recover from the dropped points in our last outing against Everton.

Last time out

Our young Blues were unable to keep the pressure on league leaders Manchester City as we drew 1-1 against Everton in the most-recent PL2 game.

A win, despite City’s two games in hand over us, would have kept us within distance of the current PL2 title holders but the task of winning the league was made harder with this draw.

We dominated for large parts of the match but were unable to find the additional goal to give us the victory.

Mason Burstow opened the scoring for us in fine fashion as he broke clear and lobbed the keeper.

We continued to control the game, but we conceded on the stroke of half-time as Katia Kouyate finished well.

The chance of the match fell to Dion Rankine, but the winger could not find the finish needed from close range.

That was how the game would end as we drew for the seventh time this season.

Crystal Palace revisited

In our game against tonight’s opponents earlier this season we surrendered a 3-1 lead as we drew 3-3 against our London rivals.

An Omari Hutchinson brace and a Cesare Casadei goal saw us go 3-1 up but we could not withstand the late pressure as two goals in the final eight minutes of the game saw us have to settle for a point.

David Omilabu, David Uzoh and Jack Wells-Morrison were the Crystal Palace goalscorers on that occasion.

The young Eagles have won their last two games and are unbeaten in their last five, so will prove to be a difficult test for our young Blues.

Palace currently sit in fourth place, eight points behind our boys, and will be looking to close the gap between us.
