The form

We resume league action having stretched our unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions with two games in four days following the international break.

A wonderful Wembley performance saw us beat WSL leaders Arsenal 3-0 to win the FA Cup for the third time in our history on Sunday, and at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday we dominated against Juventus in the Champions League but were held to a 0-0 draw.

We have won our previous seven WSL matches – our joint-longest winning run within a single season, also winning seven in a row during the 2018/19 season.

We have lost just one of our previous 43 away WSL matches (W29 D13) and have kept a clean sheet in nine of the past 12 games on the road.

Reading have won three of their previous four FA WSL matches (D1), as many as in their previous 23 combined (W3 D9 L11).

The Royals are looking to win three consecutive home WSL matches for the first time since a run of five between February and September 2018.

Since the start of last season, our former Reading striker Fran Kirby has started 22 matches in the WSL and has been directly involved in 38 goals in those matches.

Chelsea Women v Reading Women head-to-head record

Reading have never beaten Chelsea in the WSL in 10 previous attempts (D2 L8), losing the last five in a row by an aggregate score of 17-3.

In our last meeting in May we emerged 5-0 victors at Kingsmeadow - a win that secured the WSL title.

Melanie Leupolz’s half-volley put us ahead inside two minutes, and Fran Kirby struck either side of the half to as good as seal the points and title.

Kirby teed up Sam Kerr to volley home a fourth and Erin Cuthbert made it 5-0 from close range.

Next up for the Blues

We are back on the road on Thursday for our final Champions League Group A fixture when we travel to face Wolfsburg at the AOK Stadium. The match gets under way at 8pm (UK time).
