2022 was a recording breaking year for the Chelsea Foundation International Soccer School, delivered in partnership with Sani Resort in Greece. Over 1000 players took part in the programme this year, which drew to a close following the half-term break in October.
Since 2018, the Chelsea Foundation has delivered an International Soccer Schools programme at the Sani Resort providing young participants with unique football experiences. Players enjoyed over 20 hours of expert coaching a week with a bespoke syllabus designed and delivered by the Chelsea Foundation coaches.
Each day, players attended sessions focused on a specific theme, using examples from Chelsea legends to develop their football skills. There were also tournaments and small-sided games each day to showcase their learning.
The luxurious Sani Resort provides participants and their families with world-class facilities with the entire programme delivered on a state-of-the-art 3G pitch.
This summer, participants were also joined by Chelsea players both past and present including Ashley Cole (pictured below), former captain Dennis Wise (pictured top) and current star Jorginho who teamed up with the Foundation coaches to deliver coaching sessions and provide valuable advice and tips to the youngsters.
Ian Woodroffe, our international development manager, said: ‘ Sani resort has been a fantastic partner to the Foundation. Seeing families return plus new guests arriving year on year shows the popularity of the programme we have created. We can’t wait to get back out to Greece next year to deliver more football opportunities to aspiring young players.’
