Chelsea are delighted to confirm winger Guro Reiten has signed a new deal with the club, which includes an option to extend until 2026.
The 29-year-old has been integral to the Blues since arriving from LSK Kvinner in her native Norway in 2019. She has played a pivotal role in our trophy successes, with four Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, and the Community Shield lifted.
‘I’ve been here four years now and I’ve loved every second of it,' said Reiten. 'It feels like my second family and I have some really good friends here. I enjoy my time on and off the pitch and there is no place I’d rather be.’
General manager Paul Green added: ‘We’re really happy to give Guro a new deal and reward her for excellent performance. Guro is an important player for us and we look forward to seeing that continue over the upcoming years.'
During the 2022/23 campaign, the Norwegian international enjoyed an excellent season in blue.
She made 39 appearances, the most of any player in the squad, and scored 13 goals, including strikes away to Lyon and Barcelona, as we reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The consistency and quality of her performances did not go unnoticed. She picked up several Player of the Match awards as she starred in our quest towards another WSL and FA Cup Double.
She was also part of the PFA Team of the Year and nominated for the Women’s Ballon d’Or.
International recognition came in the form of the 2022 Norwegian Football Association Women’s Player of the Year award. She represented her country at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer where Norway reached the last 16.
Everyone at Chelsea wishes to congratulate Guro, and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive for the Blues in the years to come.
