Chelsea's youngsters take on our west London rivals Fulham for the Under-18 Premier League Cup crown tomorrow at Craven Cottage, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm and tickets still available.

You can support the boys across town at Craven Cottage tomorrow (Wednesday 4 May), with tickets still available and priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

Our young Blues will look to end their 2021/22 season on a high as the Cottagers host what is a highly anticipated game. A final against our neighbours is what will provide added impetus to Ed Brand and his boys to put in a good performance.

The journey to the final has been a tough one at times but we have shown tremendous character and a strong mentality to get this far. Here, we look at the path our young Blues have taken to reach this year’s last two...

Group stage

Our first game of the competition was a 3-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers as we recovered from a being a goal down early on to secure victory late on through a Louis Flower goal. Malik Mothersille and Ronnie Stutter were the other goalscorers that day as the young Lancastrians gave our young Blues a stern test at Cobham.

Following that, our second game saw Brand’s boys this time recover from a two-goal deficit to beat Reading 3-2. All three goals came in the second half of this one as we showed great maturity to fight back.

Edwin Andersson started the comeback, Mothersille drew the game level and, just after the hour mark, Flower completed the turnaround as our young Blues saw the game out.

Our final group-stage game was a 3-3 draw against Derby County as our boys safely made it through to the next round of the competition. Luke Badley-Morgan, a Charlie Webster penalty and Mothersille got the job done in that game.

For the young Rams, Malcolm Ebiowei grabbed a hat-trick as he stood out. The young forward has made 15 Championship appearances this season, scoring one goal.

Quarter-final

We had the tricky test of Manchester United in the next phase of the competition after the group stages and we went two goals down as Alejandro Garnacho and a Manni Norkett penalty in the first minute of the second half gave us a mountain to climb.

As we have already seen on a number of occasions in this tournament alone, our young Blues have been able to overturn deficits and this game proved to be the same as we mounted a terrific comeback.

Stutter and Mothersille both scored brilliant goals to draw the game level and then, 10 minutes from time, Silko Thomas found the back of the net to complete a comeback that had looked rather unlikely early in the second half.

Semi-final

Stoke City were our opponents in the semi-final and this was our first victory with a goal margin of more than one as we were dominant in a 5-1 victory away from home.

It was an excellent showing as Stutter and Thomas both got onto the scoresheet, Tudor Mendel-Idowu grabbed a brace and Josh Tobin with the pick of the bunch scored a late wonder goal to round off what had been a perfect performance.

With only Fulham now in their way of silverware this season, Brand’s team will be looking to end 2021/22 on a high with victory in the Premier League Cup.

Our youngsters previously lifted the trophy back in March 2018 when a brace from Charlie Brown sealed a 2-0 win against Tottenham at Cobham for Jody Morris's side.
