The voting for the 2021/22 Chelsea Goal of the Season continues with two more strikes for supporters to pick from in the second of our quarter-finals today.
The winner of the award is being decided by a poll of Blues fans, taking place in a knock-out format, with the eight nominated goals going head-to-head in a series of quarter-finals this week. Yesterday Mateo Kovacic's goal against Liverpool was a narrow winner over Hakim Ziyech's strike against Spurs.
Today’s two nominees have plenty of emotional value, in addition to their undeniable quality, as we ask you to pick between Trevoh Chalobah’s first senior goal for Chelsea and Erin Cuthbert’s strike at Wembley in the Women’s FA Cup final.
Chalobah added the icing on the cake in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace back in August, as the Academy graduate marked his Premier League debut at Stamford Bridge with a fine goal. Collecting the ball just inside the Palace half and urged to shoot, the defender moved forward before unleashing a precise strike beyond Guaita’s despairing dive and into the back of the net via the base of the post.
Cuthbert’s shortlisted goal put Chelsea Women ahead in the epic 3-2 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City. The ball was laid off to Cuthbert 25 yards from goal and there was only one thing on her mind. Although she had minimal time to get the shot away, the Scot somehow generated enough power to send her strike arrowing towards the back of the net, bouncing in off the crossbar.
You can watch those two goals in the videos above before casting your vote for which one makes it to the semi-finals below. Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for the next of our Goal of the Season quarter-finals…
Voting closes at 11.59pm UK time on Thursday evening.
