After a formidable season in front of goal for the Blues, the 2021/22 Golden Boot winner has been voted Player of the Season by Chelsea supporters.
With over 70 per cent of the vote, Kerr deservedly wins this year’s award as Chelsea FC Women’s Player of the Season.
The No.20 finished top goal scorer, netting 32 times in all competitions. Kerr retained the Golden Boot award for the second consecutive year, having scored 20 times in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season.
Kerr played a pivotal role in Emma Hayes’ team, netting at vital times to ensure the Blues won the WSL three times running and the Vitality Women’s FA Cup back-to-back.
The Matildas striker scored a number of important goals this season, including a crucial 92nd-minute winner against Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow in March to keep the Blues’ title hopes alive.
Kerr also scored twice as Chelsea beat Manchester United on the final day of the season, with her well-taken volley against the Red Devils being nominated for the WSL’s Goal of the Season. Our No.20 also scored the winning goal at Wembley as the Blues secured our second consecutive FA Cup.
The accolades continue to roll in for the 28 year-old striker, who was also named the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Player of the Year and was named Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.
Kerr has also been nominated for the WSL’s Player of the Season and her strike against Man United on the final day of the season is up for Goal of the Season.
‘It is an absolute honour to win this award,’ Kerr says. ‘Thank you firstly to Paul [Green] and Emma [Hayes] for trusting in me and believing in me this season, secondly to the fans for supporting us and myself all year, you have been absolutely incredible.‘Thank you to everyone who voted for me and mostly importantly to my team-mates. None of this would have been possible without you guys. It has been an absolutely incredible season. I love every single one of you and I am so proud to be in this club and this team with you.’
