Ted Curd, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Josh Acheampong, Michael Golding and Reiss Denny have all been named in the England squad for the upcoming Under-17 World Cup.

The tournament takes place later this month in Indonesia and the Young Lions have been drawn into Group C alongside Brazil, Iran, and New Caledonia.

England's opener takes place on Saturday, 11 November, at the Jakarta International Stadium. New Caledonia are the opposition. Three days later at the same venue, Ryan Garry's side face Iran.

Their group stage is concluded on Friday, 17 November, as England face Brazil. That game will also be played at the Jakarta International Stadium.

Strong Chelsea representation in the squad was anticipated and Golding will be in contention to captain the side having done so at the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship this summer.

Curd, Samuels-Smith, and Acheampong have all been regulars at this age group while Murray-Campbell and Denny are worthy additions to the squad following their form this season.

All of the Chelsea contingent heading to Indonesia, barring Curd, who is out on loan, have featured this season for both Mark Robinson's Under-21s and Hassan Sulaiman's Under-18s. It is indicative of the progress each has made.

'It is great to see us so well represented at the World Cup,' said Robinson, who is coach of our Under-21s.

'All the players are doing well in the U1-8s and have done very well when they have had opportunities in the U-21s. They are really good lads as well as players and I am sure they will do themselves, our club and the country proud.'

Our Under-18s head coach, Hassan Sulaiman, also sent his best wishes to the players: 'I am really pleased for the boys that have been called up for England as it will be an opportunity to face the very best of players from around the world.

'Naturally, every game will pose its own challenges and I want them to take on that challenge, but also enjoy themselves as this is a major milestone in their young careers.'

The last time England won the Under-17 World Cup was in 2017 and the squad for that tournament included five players who were on the books at Chelsea: Marc Guehi, Jonathan Panzo, Conor Gallagher, George McEachran, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Guehi has since established himself as an England international and is captain at Crystal Palace; Gallagher has captained Chelsea this season and featured in every game under Mauricio Pochettino; Hudson-Odoi made more than 125 first-team appearances for the Blues before departing for Nottingham Forest this summer.
