The fifth annual Big Sleep Out took place at Stamford Bridge last Saturday to raise funds for two homeless charities, Stoll and Barons Court Project (BCP).
The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust, with help and cooperation from Chelsea Football Club, were able to stage a successful event again with a hardy group of Chelsea and charity supporters, including an 83-year-old participant from Stoll, settling down for what turned out to be a very cold night in the East Stand concourse.
They had been welcomed with short speeches from representatives of two charities, detailing the work both organisations do for homeless people and by 6.30am on Sunday morning, all were awake for a breakfast provided by the club and our catering partner Levy.
With those who slept out raising sponsorship money, the CST has declared 2024’s Big Sleep Out a successful event which they hope to repeat next year.
Although this year’s target has still to be met, a link for donating money remains open, and this year’s money raised will smash through the £100,000 mark for the five years the Sleep Out has taken place.
