Mykhailo Mudryk was delighted to find the back of the net during his Player-of-the-Match display against Panathinaikos and has explained why he ran to celebrate with head coach Enzo Maresca.

The Ukrainian was a constant threat throughout our 4-1 win, setting up both of Joao Felix’s goals while also converting himself, diverting the ball past the goalkeeper at the far post.

After yesterday’s match - where he created the most chances - Mudryk is currently joint top of the assist charts in the Conference League with the Blues also occupying top spot in the table.

While also being voted by the Blues' supporters as our Player of the Match on the Official Chelsea App, Misha explained how thrilled he was to contribute in Athens.

‘I’m happy, we did well,’ the 23-year-old opened. ‘We won this game and we got a great result from a great game.

‘I’m so happy to score. Every player when they score is really happy. It wasn’t an easy ball with the ball falling behind me, but I scored it and we managed to win as well.

‘I think the game wasn’t that easy. It was good for us to score first. We fought well, we stuck to the plan and we got the result.’

During the celebration of his strike, Mudryk ran over to the bench and embraced his boss Maresca for a specific reason.

He revealed: ‘The coach always says to me to go to the second post and I did that and that’s where I scored so we shook hands after.

‘It’s always great to score for your confidence. As a team I think every win will give us a boost of confidence and I think every game we are getting better as a team.’

Misha is hopeful of the Blues continuing their bright start to the Conference League with the winger believing the sky is the limit if they continue to work.

‘I don’t want to give any prediction but Chelsea is a club that is always aiming for the biggest results and getting to the greatest places in many tournaments,’ he added.

‘Talent ain’t enough. If you want to succeed you have to work hard and be patient.’
