Blues head coach Sonia Bompastor has praised Aggie Beever-Jones following her first start for England and backed Erin Cuthbert to respond to the disappointment of Scotland failing to qualify for the European Championships.
After a two-week pause, we return to action in the Women's Super League on Sunday as we host Brighton & Hove Albion at Kingsmeadow.
It is a quick turnaround for players such as Beever-Jonesa and Cuthbert, the latter of whom played 90 minutes in both legs of Scotland's play-off against Finland, which ended in a painful 2-0 aggregate defeat.
In her pre-match press conference, Bompastor was asked about how Cuthbert would react to the disappointment of missing out on a major international tournament with her country. She replied: 'It's tough for Erin personally, but also for her country.
'These games meant a lot for her and to the country, so when you don't qualify you can struggle mentality because it's a big disappointment.
'But we are here as a club, as staff, and as a manager to support her. It's normal to be disappointed from not qualifying, but she's back with us and she's a high-level athlete. She has the experience and just needs to focus now on the club.'
Blues forward Beever-Jones, meanwhile, earned her second cap for England after starting for the first time in the Lionesses' 1-0 victory over Switzerland at Bramall Lane.
Bompastor was pleased to see the 21-year-old get the nod and believes it will boost the young forward's confidence.
'It's good for her to start a game with England,' Bompastor added. 'I spoke a lot with Sarina [Weigman] – and I speak a lot with all the national team coaches about my players – and on Aggie, we have the same vision.
'She has a lot of talent. She's still young. She needs to work on things in the game, but this is what we have been doing with her, making sure that when she doesn't start a game, she keeps the confidence.
'I think her performance against Switzerland was a good one. It has to be her confidence - I told her, even with Chelsea that she would love to start every game - which is a normal mindset - but, sometimes as a young player, you also need to be patient.
'She's working hard. She has the right mentality. We will see Aggie with us performing and helping the team to perform.'
