Blues head coach Sonia Bompastor believes opposition sides are finding it difficult to contain the quality and varied goalscoring threats within her Chelsea squad.
The Blues travel north to face Liverpool in St Helens on Sunday afternoon with a five-game winning streak at the start of the Women's Super League season behind them – it is the first time Chelsea have achieved this feat.
Our most recent victory also took place in Merseyside; a 5-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park last weekend. That rout means Bompastor's side have netted 20 times in our opening five league matches, with only three conceded in return.
Our 20 goals have been scored by 13 different players this term, something Bompastor says is a difficult thing for opposing teams to handle.
'That's really valuable, for sure, because it gives the opposition some doubts on players,' Bompastor told the media in her pre-match press conference. 'They don't really know which one is going to score.
'It shows the quality we have in our squad, especially being able to play without maybe the most creative players in the squad: Catarina Macario and Lauren James. Being able to score a lot of goals from different players shows how much quality I've got in my squad and my players. It's good and always causes more doubts for the opposition.'
Although our start to the league season has been flawless in terms of results, Bompastor has no intention of settling and our head coach has explained the areas of the Blues' game that can still be improved upon ahead of Liverpool.
'I'm a really demanding coach and manager,' Bompastor added. 'There is always room for improvement in possession of the ball, but also out of possession.
'In the build-up, we still need to be more efficient. I think in the creation phase we can find even more chemistry between the players, and in the finishing phase - even if we score a lot of goals – we could still be more efficient earlier in the game sometimes.
'Without possession, we need to stay consistent through the game and be able to defend very well. As much as we can, having clean sheets is something that we're looking for. So a lot of room for improvement, even if we are doing well and we are confident at the moment.'
Even though there is progress still to be made, Bompastor is not surprised by how quickly the Blues have bought into the style of play that has helped us start the season in such impressive form.
'Coming to Chelsea, I knew I had a lot of quality in the squad,' she added. My main focus is to make sure we are able to win every single game.
'Even if the league is really competitive and that is not going to be easy, I think the players are fresh in their minds. They are embracing the game model and the way we work in a really good way. And at the moment, results and performances are good, so it's good for the confidence.
'I'm really happy with that, but I was expecting that coming to Chelsea, a club who has a lot of ambitions with a talented squad. I was expecting us to be able to perform from the beginning, and I hope now we will perform until the end.'
In our previous encounter with Liverpool, the Blues suffered a 4-3 defeat at Prenton Park in the latter stages of last season. That is a game Bompastor told the media she has watched, and she went on to discuss the threats Matt Beard's side, who have won two and drawn three league matches so far this term, will possess.
'I know Liverpool always find a way to perform against Chelsea,' Bompastor said. 'We are prepared for that. From Liverpool's performances and results from the beginning of the season, I'm expecting a team who is really organised.
'They don't concede a lot of goals. They will be ready to face us on Sunday, and we will also be focusing on ourselves with the quality of talent in my squad.'
