Sonia Bompastor hopes to see a reaction from her side when we host West Ham United in the Subway Women's League Cup semi-finals, with our head coach praising how the players have reflected on a below-par performance at the weekend.
The Blues are back on cup duty at Kingsmeadow tomorrow evening following our Women's Super League victory away to Aston Villa.
And, although that ended with a 1-0 win, it was not a display up to the high standard Bompastor expects from a Chelsea side, as a late own goal from the hosts was what helped us secure the three points at Villa Park.
But with an opportunity to put things right only a few days later, Bompastor has been pleased with her side's preparations ahead of the last-four contest against the Hammers.
'The ideal in football is to always make sure you win and you have a great performance,' Bompastor said. 'But, sometimes it's not possible so when the performance is not there, you have to find a way to win.
'That's what we've been doing in some games. I was pleased with the result on Sunday. The performance, we didn't create a lot, but it happens. The most important for us is to reflect on the game and have the right reflections to be able to move forward and put right the elements of our game on Wednesday.
'The group responded well to the reflections we have had. The players are really invested in the reflection. We all know our ambitions and what we have to do to play better football.'
Bompastor added: 'It just shows this league is really competitive and every team gives us a challenge. The game on Sunday, we were not all connected on the pitch.
'We were not all playing together. Sometimes I had some players who were on different pages and it can happen. It's now just making sure we all go back to the game model and we go on the same page.
'We have the quality in the squad to be able to do a lot more. We reflected on the game from Sunday and we know exactly now what we have to do for the game tomorrow.'
The Blues met West Ham in the WSL last month at the Chigwell Construction Stadium where we prevailed with a 5-0 win. But, with a place in the final at stake, Bompastor is expecting an especially challenging encounter tomorrow evening.
'It's a semi-final, so for both teams, it is a really important game,' Bompastor said. 'Both teams will be really motivated. It's an opportunity to get to a final.
'From the last time we played against them, they are probably going to do differently. In that game, they were a bit passive and I think they will be more proactive in the game. They will be really motivated. It will be a completely different game tomorrow.'
